A new piece of knowledge for me because I am inexperienced in TEFL. This unit illuminates that lesson planning is central to being an effective teacher and to synthesize what I teach and how I teach it. I envisage being able to use this unit in the future to help me to think deliberately about my lesson objectives, the types, sequence and time allocation of activities that will meet my objectives, the materials I need, and how my students should be grouped.In high school and while I was getting my associates, I had some teachers that only taught out of the course book and others who never touched the course book. I agree with what this lesson has to teach that it is important to have both. As a teacher you don't want to overwork yourself because you are creating every part of the lessons, but you also want to have flexibility that matches the classrooms' needs. I believe this lesson really emphasized on that.
