This unit discussed phonetics, stress, intonation, and other things related to making sounds in English. It gave good examples of intonation and stress, some of which I want to use in my classrooms. The phonetic alphabet was a bit much though. I don't think my students would respond well to something like that, as many of them still write their letters incorrectly at times. I appreciate the mouth charts and will look for ways to incorporate more phonetics in my lessons.This was probably one of the more challenging units for me to work through. I grew up in a French immersion setting where I learned the majority of my grammar in French rather than English. We did learn grammar in English as well but not quite as intense and for that reason it did not stick with me as well. I think this has been helpful to go over as an adult and I will be able to relate better to struggling students because I recently went through similar difficulties.
