The topics covered in Unit 18 were modal auxiliary verbs (which change the formality and meaning of the main verb), the passive voice (in which the agent is not important or is unknown), relative clauses (ones that modify a noun), and phrasal verbs (multi-word verbs that act as one verb). I think all of these grammatical concepts could be terribly confusing to an ESL learner and being able to clearly explain these concepts are important for teachers, particularly those at higher levels.This unit covered Troubleshooting. I learned suggestions on what activities to do with the students during the very first class, one of the things is to build rapport with the students. I learned what games are helpful to use as class warmers at the start of the class, hangman is a good idea. Also, I learned on how to work with a large class,one of the tips was to appoint students as group leaders.I learned that using pair work with reluctant students can ease possible confidence issues.
