This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Many speakers of languages other than English will be used to more flexible word order due to more inflection and case structure elucidating the relationship between words. Phrasal verbs can have a striking difference in meaning from their constituent words if they are inseparable, such as 'getting off' someone versus 'getting someone off'. While relative clauses will be familiar to most anyone, the passive voice can be useful in attenuating English initially to the target students' native word order.Unit 8 goes over future tenses. These include future simple, continuous, perfect, perfect continuous, present simple, present continuous, and ?be going + infinitive? (?going to? future). I learned their differing forms and usages. For example the future simple would follow this structure: ?I will finish this sentence!? It?s usages could be applied to predictions (with no present evidence), promises, assumptions/speculations, spontaneous decisions, threats, and future facts and certainties.
