This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit explained what modal verbs are and their uses and structure. Then explained the differences between passive voice and active voice, the proper times to use the passive voice and it's structure. the two types of relative clauses were explained. Then went right on to explaining the three basic types of verbal phrases. The only of these topics I was familiar with was the passive and active voice. The rest of the topics were new to me and was a challenge for me to learn.Unit 11 covered reading and listening for different purposes. The was great advice about using the interesting subject materials or people to engage students more effectively. The unit also makes very good points about predictive skills. How we learn from exposure to our native surrounding and how some things just do not translate easily. I also like the idea of pre-teaching some difficult vocabulary to help the students understanding when listening to an audio/video interview.
