This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit was very useful as I learned that modal auxiliary verbs can be used to control or express different degrees of normality i.e. modal auxiliary verbs can change the formality and meaning of the main verb. I also learned that a modal auxiliary verb expresses the power exercised by the speaker in various degrees without changing form. I learned about passive voice and that in passive voice the subject receives the action of a transitive verb.If I was teaching low level student passive voice, I would start with a warm up activity by asking questions such as ‘which sport do you play, what is your favorite game etc. I would write down students’ responses on the board together with their names. Among the many other valid things I learned in this unit was the difference between defining and non defining relative clauses.
