For speaking activities, I agree that corrections should not be made instantaneously because that reduces the confidence of the student and in some cases, they may shut down and stop participating if they are corrected immediately and constantly while they are trying to speak. Speaking is the most intimidating part of a language, in my opinion, and in order to elicit participation, students need to feel comfortable and even space to experience with the language.Ideally, learning a language should make use of the receptive skills of the students. These skills are equally as important as each other so they should be used this way. It is important to keep in mind the level of the students as they will need to listen to or read things which may not have already been covered in other classes. In order to encourage them to participate it is a good idea to pre-teach difficult words and sentences before starting activities.
