Unit 13 explored the very extensive subjects of Phonology and pronunciation. Providing some good foundational knowledge of the challenges and opportunities these subjects can present. The unit defined terms like intonation and stress and grouped subjects under each header to help understand how we can teach pronunciation. Intonation is the volume and pitch of a sentence and stress is where to place emphasis within a sentence and how changing that emphasis could potentially change the context of a statement. We also explored the phonetic spelling of words. The unit clearly only scratches the surface of this topic, glad more reference material was provided. I also felt lost during the unit. There were several instances where the writer would ask questions but not provide answers, which left me making guesses or trying to google things.
