I have learnt that the motivation, experience and behaviour patterns between different young children and adults can be very different. This is extremely important for me as I have been used to teaching younger children and I now have to adapt a different approach to teach adults. Thus, I should be more mindful of adults' negative experiences with learning previous languages and try not to make the same mistakes. Also, I understood that culture plays a huge role in an adult student's approach to learning language. Thus, I will encourage conservative Asian students to speak up more during lessons as they tend to be more shy about speaking English. Also, I realised that adults might have more anxiety about success as compared to children. Thus, I need to be more motivating towards them and not embarrass them in front of their classmates.
