Teaching beginners may include absolute beginners and can be adult or child. Realistic needs will have to established. Visuals are a must and speaking clearly with repetition can be an advantage. Try not to correct constantly. Teaching individual students requires different planning. Text book activities can assist. But using a variety of resources such as short stories, articles etc can be of some help. Even recipes and cooking can trigger conversation.This unit taught me a lot about classroom discipline, how to set up and arrange my classroom, when to use teacher talk time versus student talk time, and how to create a positive classroom environment. I found the reasons for problem behaviours to be interesting, and it reconfirmed the need for me to establish a good report with my students, as well as the need to know them personally.
Note: The wording in the unit tests are challenging and confusing.
