I found this unit extremely interesting. It helps to establish a starting point for any new teacher. The types of testing coupled with the ALTE site will definitely help me assess a student's current level of proficiency in order to properly group them and/or build an appropriate class syllabus. I felt this information was missing from my TEFL basic course. In fact, several of us even asked our instructor for this specific information. If you don't include it in your online basic course, you should.This was a useful lesson in that it had small tidbits of pertinent information. The information presented for teaching the first lesson can apply to one-on-one lessons as well as large classroom settings, so this was of particular help to me. Also, the section on warmers and on using the native language of the students provided me with valuable information. I figured it may be good to be able to speak the students' native language, but more and more it seems that it just hinders the learning of English.
