This unit teaches us about goals and challenges of teaching speaking and writing.The unit also gives ideas and inspiration for making classes more productive and fun. The unit gives examples and teaches us practically step by step on how to organize a lesson (or individual activities) focused on productive skills. I particularly liked that the unit was concise and straight to the point. However, a little more detail would be nice in the section about writing.Unit 14 taught me the advantages and disadvantages of using a standard coursebook in my English classes. I think having a high quality textbook as a starting point is really important, but only if you can supplement with materials like those found in this unit. I have had great luck with crossword puzzles and word searches, but I have not used the prompt cards, and it is such a good way to get the students talking with each other and practicing their fluency.
