This unit helped me to better understand the concept of having 3 parts to the study phase and 2 parts to the activate phase. I am beginning to really be able to visualize the whole ESA format, especially with the straight arrow style. I understand now that the engage phase should introduce the topic and stimulate interest/discussion. The study phase should introduce new/difficult vocabulary, present detailed material and get some kind of feedback to check for understanding. The activate phase should allow students the chance to work more independently using the material just learned.This lesson briefly went over issues and situations that will happen in the classroom that were not discussed in the previous lessons. The lesson stated that in the first class a rapport should be established with the students and the teacher (and the students with their fellow students, if needed). Then the unit talked about suggested \"warmers\" that are short, fun activities that will make the students excited for the upcoming lesson. One of the last things discussed was the use of their native tongue in the classroom, which shouldn't be banned but discouraged in favor of English.
