In this unit I learned about the various parts of speech in the English language. This included types of nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, pronouns, articles, prepositions and conjunctions. I feel this lesson was extremely important as many students that are not children want to know reasons for why grammar is a certain way including wanting to understand the English grammar rules. Although I was familiar with parts of the speech in English before studying this lesson, I was no aware of all of the specific types of some of these parts. For example, I was not aware of how many kinds of adjectives and adverbs there are or what a gerund is. Not only has this helped me to be more aware of my own grammar uses and identifying all the parts of speech but it also has helped me to feel more confident in becoming an efficient teacher of English.
