This unit is about teaching special groups. Not all classes are the same, and there are cases where the situation may call for the teacher to adjust their teaching methods for the student or students. For instance, in a class of children, the teacher should not teach them in the same way they might teach a class of businessmen. One-on-one lessons are also conducted differently than in a classroom setting, and while the one-on-one environment allows the student to practice their English more with a native speaker, group activities are not possible in this sort of setting. For business English/English for specific purposes, it is important to take a needs analysis to help focus the lessons. A needs analysis should include what the client uses English for and how they will need it in the future and a feedback session to discuss these needs.
