This unit has given me knowledge on teachers and learners.
It has described how a teacher should act and teach the class, by explaining the 'ideal' teacher's personality, mind set, and what roles the teacher must partake within the classroom. I have learned that the teacher must find a good balance between both student and teacher centered learning activities, to keep lessons interesting, increasing the student's participation, motivation, and learning.
Additionally, the different types of learners, based on many different variables (age, culture, etc.), are discussed. I have learned how different factors affect each type of learner's motivation to learn English, and therefore how it is imperative to be able to stimulate motivation as a teacher. I believe that motivation is the biggest factor in whether a learner is 'good' or 'bad'.
