Unit 9 covers the important element of lesson planning when preparing and teaching a language-learning class. As mentioned in the unit, it is important for teachers to understand the role that lesson plans play and not to feel like every little detail, word, and second must be planned. Teachers should have a general idea of what is to be covered, what materials they will need, about how long each activity will take, and any possible complications or struggles their students might have. But it is important to remember that flexibility should be built in and anticipated. It is also helpful to keep a record of what was covered and when it was covered. The unit also included a sample lesson plan as well as a blank one for future teachers' use. The unit also included sample lessons and materials for a sample Engage, Study, and Activate lesson.
