I believe everyone has had a teacher who seems like they don't want to be there, and it is true that your attitude as a teacher has a major effect on the students' attitudes and motivation. Not only does the second lesson engage the students more with fun activities and useful, interconnected debates, but the teacher actually interacts with his classroom and encourages them to participate. The first lesson is so teacher-driven that the students do not feel as though they should talk or participate-- fearing failure and being reprimanded by the teacher. In the second lesson, students respect their teacher, know that they can joke with him, make mistakes, and make progress in their language learning all with his support.
