This unit discusses different kinds of assessments that determine students' skills and progress. There are several types of assessments, both formal and informal, that are useful in determining whether one's students are truly learning the material and also whether they are being taught the skills they need at the most appropriate level. The unit also offers helpful information on standardized tests English language learners may be preparing for.I found this unit important as it detailed the many differences in teaching different groups. How the tone of the lesson changes from teaching children to teaching business men and women, the different needs of the students and external factors that may affect their motivation and performance. I learnt the different ways that lessons can be prepared and undertaken, taking the specific needs, ability and age group of the students into consideration.
