Teachers can use different methods to teach. There are Grammar-translation, Audio-lingualism, Presentation, Practice and Production, Task-based learning, Communicative language teaching, community language learning, the Silent way, Suggestopaedia and the Lexical approach. Which methods to use depends on the teacher, learners as well as the culture.
In each lesson, there should be three elements, which are Engage, Study, and Activate.
In the Engage stage, the teacher should arouse students' interest and get them involved in the class.
In the Study stage, the teacher should allow learners to practice the language (e.g. worksheets), ensure correct pronunciation and go over any errors.
In the Activate stage, the teacher allow learners to use the language freely as possible, such as in role-plays, communication games, debates and story writing.
