This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Unit 12 focuses on teaching productive skills. The two productive skills are speaking and listening. These skills are very important because they are both used for the same purpose- communication. Although writing often gets overlooked in the classroom for more focus on speaking, both skills are equally important. One of the most important things that I learned in this unit is that whether a teacher is conducting a speaking activity or writing activity, it is important to motive the students and to arouse their interest in the topic or activity. This is the best way to make sure they will be willing to participate and get the most out of each lesson. I also really enjoyed the section on “Games in the Classroom.†This section provided a lot of good information and examples on how to liven up a lesson on the productive skills.
