Unit 7 conveys various ways of teaching new language. It discusses how vocabulary, grammar structures, and language funtions should be taught. Several factors should be considered when teaching vocabulary among students, namely: similarity to students' L1, similarity to English words already known, spelling and pronunciation, and appropriacy. When planning on how to teach vocabulary, it is also equally important to consider the following about the new word: meaning,usage, grammar, interaction, spelling, and pronunciation. Likewise, teaching grammatical structures should be based on the following principles: the meaning of the language, its usage, forms and patterns, and the spoken and written form. Finally, teacing language functions should include appropriateness of the language, whether formal, informal, tentative, technical, and the like.
