The videos showed the difference a teacher makes in teaching. Regardless of all the preparation, materials and time if a teacher does not have the right attitude to teaching students, then the lesson will be a failure. These videos did not so much look at the lesson itself but it looked at the effect a teacher has on a class.
In both videos the teacher had worksheets ready but without the proper introduction through the engage phase, the students found it difficult to proceed. Video 1 showed no interaction, no explanation, no pictures, ignored questions and no connection to the students. Whereas the teacher in video 2 was engaging, modeled, showed care and interest, used gestures, listened, praised and questioned to evoke discussion and vocabulary. The atmosphere was conducive to good learning and invited all students to participate.
