This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Speaking and writing are productive skills that are used to communicate. In a number of ways, writing is considered more difficult as this skill requires a lot more accuracy. Speaking on the other hand, requires more fluency. The difference between the two is that accuracy based activities (usually part of the study phase) are focused on producing correct language whereas fluency based activities (typically part of the activate phase) are more focused on the usefulness and flow of the language and therefore allow for more creativity. It is important to ensure that students are interested, motivated to learn, feel comfortable and confident to participate and interact with the other students as well as the teacher. Especially with improving their writing skills, students should be given a variety of opportunities to practice different styles.
