This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit illustrated through video the different outcomes a lesson can have based solely on the way that it is being taught. The first video the teacher had a bad attitude and did not care about his students. This was seen since he didn't introduce himself or learn the names of students, he intimidated them by calling the teaching point easy, and he kept repeating instructions instead of trying to say them in new ways. He also didn't follow an ESA lesson plan at all. He started with study instead of engaging the students. The second video showed how to be an effective teacher. Right from the start the teacher engaged the students with his introduction. His engage phase was also perfectly linked to his study and activate phases. He made great use of gesture, randomly chose who was to answer, and used positive reinforcement with the students.
