Again we see the spectrum between the natural method and the didactic direct teaching method. If time is my ally and students aren't to be tested for specific vocabulary soon, I like to spend a lot of time introducing real world language examples to students to help them to master new language by surrounding it with the language they are already familiar with.If time is not our friend, we have to just get right to it. I think the average person can memorize vocabulary and grammar to a limited extent without some reference point. How do we tell our brains that a list of information is useful and not to throw it away? Ultimately, I think that this is a very challenging task. Games, stories and getting the students active like in the TPRS method are great for this. I am looking forward to learning more about the ESA method as to how to do this.
