This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Unit 5 is a good reminder for all teachers on how to manage classes better by organizing the lessons and the actual classroom, as well as maintaining discipline while having a friendly and relaxed manner. Suggestions were also made when and how to use eye contact, gestures, voice modulation, and students’ names during lessons. The advantages and disadvantages of grouping students as a whole, individuals, pairs, or groups were also explained. Everything mentioned in this unit are things that are normally taken for granted by teachers but are very important to remember. Personally, the most important reminder for me in this unit is on how to establish rapport and to maintain discipline among the students. I believe that these are very critical in determining whether students will learn or not, and the extent by which they learn a language.
