I am glad that the task sheet directed me right away to the ALTE website. It was good to read parts of their own documents and get a sense for language learner levels in their own words/descriptions. I also appreciated the coverage in this unit of the different types of syllabi and how to make a syllabus, since that was not a topic that was really covered in the 120-hour basic course. I also hadn't really considered that a course could be as short as 10 hour-long sessions - in my mind, whenever I thought of courses I was thinking of long-term learning. I'm realizing more and more ways in which teaching ESP would be different from having a classroom of young learners...with a typical school class, you would have the students for a full year or term. With teaching business English, you have less time in which to achieve the goals of the course.
