Phonology is the study, science, analysis, and classification of physical properties of sounds. Stress, rhythm, and intonation are the 3 main parts. Stress focuses on individual words, whereas intonation focuses on volume and pitch variation in a whole sentence. Rise and fall is the standard intonation for most sentences. Fall and rise is used in sentences where a response or information is required. A third type is flat, which conveys boredom or something similar. In terms of stress, only syllables are stressed, not vowels and consonants. Verbs are most often stressed in a sentence, much more often than articles, pronouns, and prepositions. The International Phonemic Alphabet is a universal chart of English language sounds that can be referenced for pronunciation help, and has three related concepts: voice, place, and manner of articulation.
