This unit is a very useful introductory to teaching young adults. It starts with clearing the terminology and giving a brief explanation of the main developmental and learning theories. The next part explains how do we learn our first (native) language and how we build our second language on it - and how the method of learning each differs from the other. I found extremely useful to learn about the basic rules of language acquisition; one can set the teaching process remembering to all those rules which are natural but often opposite to classic teaching methods. The next chapters explain different methods for younger or elder groups, remind us to ESA orders, explains the importance of the learning enviroment or the different roles of the teacher, finishing the unit with a chart of the worksof productive and receptive skills on different levels.
