This unit about coursebooks and lesson materials was perhaps not as important as the other units, but I did learn quite a bit through it. How, when and why to use authentic and created materials, for instance, was a valuable skill I learned from this unit. The coursebook section may not be relevant to my current situation as my Japanese schools have pre-determined textbooks prescribed by the Board of Education, but perhaps in the future this information will prove to be useful.Unit 18, modal phrasal verbs and passive voice, shows us how to deal with a very confusing subject for students. Teachers must be patient and the unit gives us some exercise ideas that can help the students develop confidence on these subjects. The lessons in this unit can help students have a deeper understanding of how to communicate in the english language. Grammar is a very complex a long subject but the course gives us more than enough to cover the needs of an ESL student.
