I do find this Unit a bit confusing with all the phonetic symbols and I will have to do some alternative research on this. Even so, I have learned a lot about articulation and what the differences are between pronunciation and articulation. I do think it is very important to make sure your students can speak at least a little bit of english before we start teaching them these more technical points of the language, but I do think tone of voice, or intonation is very important, like the unit explains all the different ways and meanings of only the word 'yes'.Unit 2 explains about parts of speech, which are classifications of words according to their purpose and meanings they add.
There are eight groups. Nouns, adjectives, articles, verbs, adverbs, gerunds, pronouns, and prepositions/conjunctions.
It adds more detailed explanation such as types of nouns or verbs, forms of verbs, comparison, etc.
It was good to know that I was not the only one who was not totally comfortable with English grammar.
However, as a teacher you are expected to know it, therefore much farther studying is very much needed for this section.
