Understanding the usage of the different tenses is very important. Here again in my opinion the key to successful teaching is finding the differences to the native language and highlight them. In German for example we do not have any progressive forms. Therefore we emphasis on this task and explain why and when to use the forms. Present perfect is also difficult to understand for german learners as the german perfect is used like the past simple in English. As a teacher you have to have agood knowledge and ability to explain the differences.Using proper teaching equipment and aids are very useful in assisting the classroom lesson and planning. They help students create a visual reference for discussion, provide more meaning and help them learn more quickly. Other aids such as DVD's and video cameras and recorders help students with their pronunciation and listening comprehension. They also create more interest and variety to avoid teacher talk time and increase engagement. Visual aids also help the teacher be more prepared for the lesson to create a planned and organized class.
