In this Unit, I was able to differentiate authentic and non-authentic materials. I learned their advantages and disadvantages. Moreover, I was able to know how these materials can be created and use in the classroom. Through this lesson also, I was able to understand more the importance of a lesson plan as a working document. I learned the format of a good and effective lesson plan and how will I be able to use it in my class. I was able to explore various resources that I can utilize in teaching business english, both printed and electronic.This unit allowed me to understand the difference between authentic and created materials and their importance in constructing a well balanced and interesting lesson for students. The examples provided, eg. magazines, crosswords etc., in this unit made it clear what fell into which category. The analysis of course books and remembering their advantages and disadvantages when used was vitally important. Course books form the basis of most lessons (albeit it is always important to have variation to maintain interest and motivation of students).
