Unit VI describes the system and structure of past tenses which is similar to present tenses, except that past tenses relate to past time period. Understanding the basic grammar rules is essential for communicating efficiently, but most of us have forgotten those concepts years ago. That?s why, I found very helpful the description of the general ideas of how the tenses are structured. The teaching ideas which are described in this unit gave me a great tool for teaching English grammar and made me more comfortable and confident as a teacher.This unit covered present tense. The present tense variations covered were; present simple, present continuous, present perfect and present perfect continuous. Knowing the different usages of these tense variations was what I learnt from this unit, and also, I was able to get many activity ideas from this unit. I especially liked the activity on how to teach present perfect continous. Using a card with a present perfect continuous sentence and the result, then telling student only the result and asking them to guesss what the have been doing.
