This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Unit Eleven makes clear that while writing and speaking are important in learning a new language, it is important to engage students in activities of other mediums, or receptive skills, like reading and listening. This lesson talks specifically about the different ways we read (scanning, skimming, predicting, etc) and listen (attentively, for pleasure, etc). I think it is important to pre-teach difficult language before engaging in the study part of ESA.At a first glimpse, it seemed a very obvious unit. But by digging it deeper, it came to mind how easily we confuse and misunderstand the real uses of the present tense's forms in everyday life. Makes it more clear why students might find it challenging and confusing. Stressing it's uses in the most appropriate activation task, together with helping discriminate between the other aspects, might seem a hint towards reinforcing this difficult unit in class.
