I appreciated how this lesson was a reminder for excellent classroom management, which is essential if all students are to have the opportunity to learn in a safe and nurturing enviornment. There needs to be a level of respect among students toward each other and towards the teacher. The teacher needs to also be a model for this respect. There are many techniques for maintaining relaxed control of a classroom. I use eye contact, proximity when necessary, discussions about respect with student feedback, and a variety of types of lessons to keep the students engaged.This unit provides a variety of methods for proper classroom management, as there are a multitude of factors that can influence the methods of classroom management that should be chosen. This lesson provides teachers the tools by which to judge how best to offer an effective learning environment in the classroom. From providing tools and methods for individual attention, group-work, physical classroom arrangement, the amount of teacher talk time and student talk time, to building rapport in the classroom, this unit is a good tool for teachers to cultivate learning.
