The content of this unit focused on noticing the differences in teaching styles and how a teacher's attitude and lesson planning can affect student participation and overall understanding of a lesson. It was interesting to see the student's responses and how much they changed from the first video to the second. It is a good reminder of how much more effective it is to use body language and continuous engagement to establish rapport with students and instill confidence in them and willingness to participate. In this unit, I have learned the fundamentals of classroom management. These fundamentals include the importance of when to use eye contact and gestures, using student names, the importance of the teacher's voice, different ways to group students up and the importance of pair work, writing on the board and the importance of maintaining visual contact with the class while doing so, discipline, giving instructions and individual attention to students and the importance of establishing a rapport with students.
