Planning lessons serves as an aid to planning, a working document, and a record. Lessons plans should be simple, not a script, structured, anticipate the amount of time required for each activity, and flexible. Before class, you should check to see if you have your lesson plan, make sure you have all necessary aids and materials, check that the equipment works, lay out materials for easy access, arrange seating, make sure the board is clean, and be ready to chat with students as they come into class. Lessons plans should include learning objectives, personal aims, language points, teaching aids, anticipated problems and situations, procedures, phases, timing, type of interaction, class level, the number of students, and date and time. When planning a sequence of lessons, you should keep in mind flexibility, goals, revisions, variety and balance.
