This unit tells about the variety of teaching methods, and the best one is ESA (Engage, Study, Activate) since it keeps students and teacher active, creative and always engaged. I would highlight elicitation as one of the most important components of ESA. It allows us to reduce teachers talk time and increase students talk time. Particularly, elicitation is useful because most of the students have been learning English for many years, thus we need to pull their knowledge out, correct ingrained mistakes and put the language point we have leant into practice. After reading this unit I have understood the difference between errors and mistakes. Now I know that I should do correction only in the study stage in order to concentrate on fluency. I can take some notes and explain the mistake after “Engage†or “Activate†stage is over.
