Teaching Aids are useful for making lessons interesting and more effective. They also make the students less dependent on a textbook-- indeed they can be used in conjunction with the textbook too. They help the teacher plan, organize and reinforce lessons. Types of common Teaching Aids are black- or white-boards, overhead projectors, visual aids (such as pictures or objects), worksheets, cassette recorders, CDs, DVDs, cameras, dictionaries, computers and the like.This unit focused on reaching productive skills. The two skills discussed were speaking and writing. In regard to students developing their speaking skills, there are a few different types of activities. Controlled activities are led by the teacher and focus on accuracy, while creative activities are led by the students and focus on fluency. This lesson also talks about creating an environment that is comfortable for students to speak and engage with the material.
