This unit presents solutions to problems most teacher encounters during their careers. It focuses on the first lesson, dealing with reluctant students or a use of a native language. We need to understand that there are many ways to encourage learners and we can't give up. Many problems are caused by the teachers themselves or their classes - they are too difficult or to easy, we don't know how to deal with large classes or we forget that it's very important to establish rapport with students. I enjoyed reading this unit very much and I can already see myself benefiting from it.Assessing students is an important part of every course. In order to learn whether they have made progress, what their areas of improvement are, and so on, we need to asses them constantly. However, it is important to do so in various ways and not only with a formal examination. Regular activities which will tell us what their level currently is and whether the content of the lesson was understood will help us understand our students better, as the situation which entails a formal assessment can be daunting and prevent some students from actually showing their true knowledge.
