I learned about the different types of tests that ESL teachers can give. The placement test so that students are placed into the correct class. Progress tests to measure periodical level of the student throughout the year. Diagnostic test are more extensive than placement tests and are given to see what prior knowledge the student has. Then practice tests to prepare the students for external examinations such as the TOEFL test. There are also different types of test offered by the Cambridge Assessment such as: KET, PET, and FCE which is many more than I expected.Unit 15 illustrates the importance of Evaluation and Testing in a language school. It further provides the different kinds of external exams and their limitations and importance. As a teacher, I personally think that giving Progress is very important. In this exam, teachers will know how much the students have improved since day one. Moreover, students will also make it as a motivation to study harder to achieve the level they have desired. Lastly, evaluating and testing are necessary in the class regardless of what purpose each student has to study English.
