This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Unit 13: In Unit 13 I learned about Phonology, which is studying the speech sounds in language. The pronunciation of sounds was also covered in this unit. The interesting part of this chapter for me was experimenting with variation, volume, rise, fall, and stress. I could take the same sentence and depending on how I pronounce the words or even just the syllables can determine what I am trying to communicate. How words are pronounced and where they are formed in the mouth showed the variety and vast potential of the human language. There is lots of useful and practical information in this unit. I have learned some basic principles of planning a lesson which gives me more ideas about organizing my ideas and putting them down on a piece of blank sheet. As a language teacher, we need to know how we carry out our teaching activities in a real class, in this way, planning a lesson is more like making a draft on your class. It could be a mind-map, a flow-chart or even some simple pictures. The main idea is to help teachers get clear thoughts of teaching procedures.
