It makes sense that it's beneficial for the students to have materials that can be engaging on a practical level and tailored to individual classes to fit their particular needs. I remember having teachers of foreign languages that would only use the textbook despite it being incredibly boring and repetitive. This certainly didn't create a high level of motivation amongst the students. However, when teachers had us pull from real life sources about topics that we were interested in, it made the whole process much more fulfilling.From this unit I feel that the 'Sample activate teaching ideas' were particularly helpful as they really got me thinking how I can teach this. I like the idea of storytelling best as long as the students enjoy listening to stories or are young enough to enjoy story telling. The 'common mistakes/errors' part helped as well. A lot of what was mentioned is what I hear from learners of English on a regular basis. If you know what the common mistakes are, you can plan certain lessons specifically targeted at correcting those mistakes.
