In my current teaching position I have no control over textbook selection. I do create a lot of my own materials and lessons though, and this unit had some useful ideas and templates for future lessons.
I also appreciated learning about some websites with easy to use resources such as puzzlemaker.com.
Overall, this unit was food for thought. It was interesting to read the suggestions for text book use and compare them to my own methods for using set materials.After watching the video and completing the task sheet, I have can understand why the way the teacher acts and speaks is a huge part in the students learning. If the teacher is grumpy and uninterested the students will act the same way, and feel discouraged. However if the teacher has a great attitude and makes the environment fun, the students will be more eager to learn. Tones, attitude, and how the teach presents themselves is the key to a successful lesson.
