This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit provides an overview of the various types of tests taken in and out of a classroom. This unit explains the function of each test and when it should be administered.
The biggest thing that I took away from this unit was the number of different types of external exams. I knew many of them, but did not know many of the Cambridge English Certificates. I think these are important to know because they each serve a specific function. Knowing the various types of external exams can also allow you to gear your class toward the preparation of specific exams.Unit 9 went over lesson planning technique. I have learned that lesson plans should be written down and give scope for the structure of the lesson without being a complete script. I also learned that lesson planning is about organization in order to prepare materials and teaching aides for the lesson. Another topic of coverage in unit 9 is that a lesson plan should include objectives: procedure, phase, timing, class level and date. I found the lesson plan example to be extremely helpful to envision my own lesson plan to organize my lessons for future learners.
