This unit revolved around the benefits of materials and course books you use in your classroom. In this section, there was a large emphasis on both the pros and cons of using course books and the negative aspects on relying to harshly on a course book when teaching. For example, you want to make sure the material you are teaching are suited for your class and their needs, which isn't always accomplished by using a course book. This section also contained a brief discussion on the differences between created material and authentic material. Created materials are materials created by the teacher usually as supplements to a course book, whereas authentic materials are anything a native speaker would read or hear. Authentic materials have their own place in a classroom because they are more effectively motivate the students and help build confidence.
