This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
In this unit, I watched two different videos, each of a TEFL class about the same topic but taught in very different manners. The first video depicted how NOT to teach a class - the teacher was unenthusiastic, insulting, and he almost mumbled at times; I had to strain my ear to hear him. I completely identified with the students, who looked confused and borderline scared of the teacher. His lesson structure was completely unclear, boring, and did not engage the students. The second lesson was a breath of fresh air - the teacher was cheerful, kind, and introduced himself to the students and asked for their names. The second lesson was much more engaging, and it showed in the way the students participated - they spoke a lot through the entire lesson. It was incredibly clear in watching these two videos how a teacher should strive to conduct a class.
