This Unit describes the modals auxiliary verbs, phrasal verbs and passive voice. Examples of modal auxiliary verbs are can, could, might, may, should, shall, would, will, must, have to have got to, need to, needn't and ought to. Modals are used to describe different ways of sayings ie. obligation, possibility/probability, permission, prohibition, ability and advise. Teaching methods for modals are role play, establishing rules regulations for organisations and use of signs eg traffic signs. For Passive voice, the object of an active verb becomes the subject of the passive verb. Only transitive verbs are used in the passive voice. There are 3 types of clauses ie independent clause, dependent clause and relative clause. Phrasal verbs consist of a verb plus one or two particles. I find that the explanation on phasal is not clear in this topic.
